ADDIS STORMS FROM BEHIND TO TAKE THE AOY TITLE FROM PAUL!

The Bayou Boys had a lot of catching up to do after the combined force of Katrina and Rita dealt their blows.  But in the end, Addis Meachum captured the 2005 Angler of the Year title.  He had to chase down Paul Johnson on the final weekend to do it, but outdistanced him by 4 points.  Bolstered by three 1st place finishes (all in a row) and two second places, he finished the year with 135 points.  Johnson finished with 131 points, with one 1st, three 2nd's, and two 3rd's.

The top six is as follows... Addis (135 points), Paul (131), Todd (129), Eddie (122), Melvin (121), and Chris (121).

Dejean takes the lead and never looks back:

Rene Dejean came to the scales on the first day of the BBBB D.A. Classic Cup with the Holy Grail of bass...  an 8.08 pound kicker.  This proved to be more than enough as he had a 6 pound lead over Nunny going into the second day of competition.  He didn't even break a sweat as Nunny only made up .5 pounds on Sunday and Dejean took the championship.  Where did he catch the first day lunker?  Well, knowing Rene, it could not have been far as there are no gas stations on the water and his range is only 20 miles or so. 

On the second day, Will Waldrop took lunker honors with a fine 3.53 pound fish that was caught with only 30 minutes left in the tournament.

For the second year in a row, Cory Savoie brought one fish to the scales on Sunday and finished far behind the competition.  At least he caught one on Saturday, unlike last year!!!
